Graphic Designer

Description

About Poppy Barley
Poppy Barley is a Canadian brand rethinking every step of the fashion industry—from design to factory relationships to shopping experience. We create luxury, sustainable products at fair prices while being driven by our commitment to do better for people and the planet.

Poppy Barley is looking for a Graphic Designer to help shape and evolve our visual identity across digital and print. Someone who knows how to turn aspiration into action with design that feels elevated, modern, and a little unexpected. You’ll collaborate closely with the marketing, product, retail and eCommerce teams to develop concepts, maintain brand consistency, and elevate every touchpoint.

What You’ll Do:
  • Elevate our visual identity by designing with precision, personality, and a clear understanding of our customer.
  • Develop and evolve brand design systems, including typography, colour, and layout templates that ensure consistency across teams and channels
  • Tell stories through design by turning creative briefs into visuals that feel fresh, emotional, and distinctly Poppy Barley.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, eCommerce, and product teams to bring campaigns to life—from concept through execution
  • Execute creative assets that communicate the Poppy Barley brand clearly and beautifully across all channels—from social and email to web, campaigns, packaging, and in-store. Create thoughtful, on-brand assets for:
  • Campaigns, product launches, and seasonal storytelling
  • Web: homepage graphics, landing pages, banners, pop-ups
  • Email marketing (Klaviyo): design assets, layout direction, mobile-optimized graphics
  • Social media: static and motion graphics, branded content templates
  • Paid advertising: meta/static/motion assets for performance campaigns
  • Packaging and print: inserts, lookbooks, in-store signage

Who You Are
  • A creative thinker with a refined aesthetic and strong visual storytelling instincts
  • Deeply familiar with fashion, lifestyle, or elevated consumer brands
  • Comfortable taking initiative, owning projects, and working both independently and collaboratively
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and able to meet deadlines in a fast-moving environment
  • Passionate about design that’s not just beautiful—but strategic

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, marketing, or related field preferred
  • 4–7 years of design experience, preferably in a consumer brand, agency, or eCommerce setting
  • Strong portfolio showcasing a range of digital and print work
  • Demonstrated proficiency in design best practices and principles, branding, composition, layout and typography.
  • Expert in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) and Canva
  • Experience designing for Shopify or Klaviyo is a plus
  • Bonus: Motion design, video editing, or photography direction experience

Everything Else
  • All hands on deck: this is a collaborative, roll-up-your-sleeves kind of team, and we're looking for someone who’s ready to jump in wherever needed to get the job done.
  • From time to time, this may include physical tasks such as lifting boxes, working in stores, or supporting in the warehouse during busy periods or campaign launches.
  • Some evening or weekend work may be required to support events, activations, or key business moments.

What we Offer

  • Great co-workers, a fun working environment and opportunity for growth within the company
  • Discounts on our awesome product for you and your family and friends
  • Participation in an extended health and dental benefits package
  • Employer RRSP matching, up to $10,000 per year
  • Hybrid (home/office) work schedule and flexibility in hours

How to Apply
Send us your portfolio and a quick note on why you’re the one. Bonus points for sharing a design project you’re especially proud of — and why. Deadline to apply: Friday, July 18th.

Please note that we will only consider applications with portfolios and that reside in Canada. This is a full-time in-person role at our head office in Edmonton, Alberta, with the potential for hybrid work arrangements.
