Your Purpose
The Social and Content Lead is the creative mastermind behind Poppy Barley’s social media strategy. You’ll conceptualize, create and execute content and influencer/affiliate strategies that drive business and align with company priorities. You’ll tell stories that contribute to brand resonance which in turn drives store and ecommerce growth. You’ll create meaningful content and UGC partnerships, and think creatively on how to grow and elevate the Poppy Barley brand.
Your Responsibilities
Social Media
- Develop and implement a cohesive social media strategy tailored to Instagram, TikTok, Substack, and the Poppy Barley blog, including the development of the content calendar, planning assets, and scheduling posts.
- Create engaging and platform-specific content, including short-form videos, stories, posts, and newsletters. Maintain a consistent brand voice and aesthetic across all platforms aligned with our brand guidelines.
- Translate marketing campaign briefs provided by the Marketing Brand Manager to social strategies that align with campaign objectives.
- Engage online communities by responding to comments, messages, and inquiries promptly. Monitor user engagement and feedback to inform content and strategy adjustments.
- Active social media monitoring and publishing, including on weekends.
- Analyze social KPIs weekly and monthly (follower growth, engagement rate, reach, saves, shares), and recommend optimizations for future content and community initiatives.
- Maintain knowledge of social media industry trends, identifying new channels and evolving best practices.
Content Creation
- Conceptualize and create video and reels for use on social media and paid media channels.
- Design assets for social media posts and stories aligned with visual brand guidelines.
- Support event activations, pop-ups, or in-person experiences with social content coverage.
- Capture and edit in-house photography and video for social use, and potential inclusion on other channels: website, emails, in-store screens, etc. Support seasonal photoshoots (external photographer) through shotlist development with the Marketing Brand Manager, with a strong focus on social needs.
Influencers and Affiliates
- Lead influencer strategy, gifted partnerships, and implementation of UGC creation to support achieving the visual direction for social media.
- Identify, recruit and on-board new influencer partners to further drive program expansion and contribute to the company's inclusion and diversity commitments.
- Develop and manage affiliate strategies and platforms (e.g., Impact, LTK) to recruit, activate, automate, maintain and reactivate affiliate pipelines to drive affiliate revenue.
- Monitor success and make recommendations for affiliate program growth.
- Work closely with the Marketing Brand Manager to identify layers of paid influencer and affiliate marketing on top of current marketing campaigns.
- Sourcing, outreach, negotiations and contract development for all paid influencer and affiliate partnerships.
- Oversee budgets, invoicing and payments for partnerships. Measure budget to revenue projections and other KPIs.
- Maintain knowledge of influencer and affiliate industry trends including new partners, tactics, tools and competitor trends

Your Background
- 3-5+ years of social media management experience.
- Proficiency in Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar tools for social content creation.
- Hands-on experience managing and growing brand social accounts.
- Comfortable with in-house photography, light video editing, and mobile-first content creation.
- Strong organizational skills — can manage multiple channels and projects at once.
- Experience with influencer/affiliate platforms (e.g., LTK, Impact) is an asset.
- Experience writing clear, engaging, and authentic copy for social media.

- From time to time, this may include physical tasks such as lifting boxes, working in stores, or supporting in the warehouse during busy periods or campaign launches.
