About Poppy Barley
Poppy Barley is a Canadian brand rethinking every step of the fashion industry—from design to factory relationships to shopping experience. We create luxury, sustainable products at fair prices while being driven by our commitment to do better for people and the planet.

Poppy Barley is looking for a Contract UX Designer to help shape the digital experience of our growing lifestyle brand. Someone who gets how to turn aspiration into action — with interfaces that feel intuitive, modern, and a little unexpected. You'll help translate business goals and user needs into frictionless, feel-good online moments.

What You’ll Do:
  • Audit, map, and improve key UX flows across our e-commerce site (think: homepage, PDP, cart, checkout, navigation).
  • Translate insights into wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs.
  • Collaborate closely with our brand, digital, and development teams to bring designs to life.
  • Apply a mobile-first mindset while keeping the full customer journey in mind — across desktop, tablet, and beyond.
  • A UX designer who’s outcome-driven and can help optimize key KPIs like bounce rate, conversion, and engagement.
  • Bring design solutions that not only look beautiful but perform beautifully too.
  • Approach UX challenges with a conversion mindset — identifying friction points and opportunities to increase customer engagement and sales.
  • Bonus: Comfortable working with HTML, CSS, and Shopify Liquid to bridge the gap between design and development.

Qualifications
  • You’ve got 3–5 years of UX/UI experience, especially in DTC or lifestyle/e-comm brands.
  • You understand the balance between brand, function, and business — and you know how to design for all three.
  • Experience designing for Shopify or Shopify Plus is a plus
  • You’re naturally curious and low ego — quick to test, iterate, and evolve.
  • You love turning data and feedback into design decisions.
  • You’re available to start in May and can commit ~20–30 hours/week for 3–4 months.

How to Apply
Send us your portfolio, a quick note on why you’re the one, and your availability and rate expectations. Bonus points for sharing a UX project you’re especially proud of — and why.

Please note that we will only consider applications with portfolios and that reside in Canada.

Uniqueness is powerful. Our customers come from all walks of life and so do we. We welcome the unique contributions that you can bring in terms of your education, opinions, culture, ethnicity, race, sex, gender identity and expression, nation of origin, age, languages spoken, veteran’s status, color, religion, disability, sexual orientation and beliefs. If you share our values and our enthusiasm for people and the planet, you will fit our team.

We thank all applicants for taking the time to apply. Only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
